This is true for many athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You want to minimize those periods of time when motivation is waning in order to maximize the benefits of training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_can_motivation_be_difficult_to_maintain\"><\/span>Why can <strong>motivation<\/strong> be difficult to maintain?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Training can be a grind&#8230; It can be painful&#8230; It can be repetitive&#8230; It can be boring&#8230; It can be exhausting&#8230; It can be no fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes during training, you can think of a million things you would rather be doing (hanging out with friends, sleeping, watching TV, etc.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe you haven\u2019t seen improvement in your game for a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You have probably even asked yourself, \u201cWhy do I keep putting myself through this?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cWHY\u201d is solely responsible for your level of motivation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How does the \u201cWHY\u201d affect motivation? It&#8217;s your mission that guides you&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You want to understand why you compete, what you are trying to accomplish, and what you need to do to get there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Motivated<\/strong> athletes are able to push through discomfort, boredom and distraction, and minor injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How you respond to the grind of training that will determine the level of success you achieve within your sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By consciously reminding yourself of why you train (your goals), you renew that sense of purpose for doing what you need to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Try_these_tips_to_boost_your_motivation\"><\/span>Try these tips to boost your motivation:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Think about your long-term goals \u2013 Remind yourself where you want to go and the \u201cWhy\u201d will make more sense.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Team up with a training buddy \u2013 By challenging each other during training sessions, you and your training buddy can push each other to greater heights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create practice goals \u2013 Ask yourself, \u201cWhat do I need to do today, to push me towards achieving my goals?\u201d Track your progress. Seeing yourself move closer to your goals will help further motivate your efforts and focus.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The athlete who succeeds is often the one who works the hardest, who persists despite adversity and who pushes when training becomes tough, doesn&#8217;t give up, and who performs their best when it counts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your daily mission and motivation are your responsibility. You have to &#8220;pay your dues&#8221; to achieve success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Successful athletes have learned how to build self-confidence and stop self-doubt.
