maintain through a long season with hours and hours of repetitive practice and training sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Repetitive workouts can lead to boredom for some athletes, <em>\u201cI get so bored in practice and just want it to be over.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dips in motivation occur when an athlete loses their \u201cwhy.\u201d \u201cWhy do I continue to put myself through the arduous work?\u201d or \u201cWhy do I sacrifice so much of my life for this sport?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Losing your \u201cwhy\u201d can cause you to question, \u201cIs all of this really worth it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By knowing the warning signs of waning motivation, you can effectively counter it and swing the <strong>momentum<\/strong> back in a <strong>positive<\/strong> direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Low_Motivation_Warning_Signs\"><\/span>Low Motivation Warning Signs:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lack the desire to practice or train<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Going through the motions in practice with little effort or <strong>focus<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boredom in practice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Missing training sessions for no good reason<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduced enthusiasm for competing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diminished enjoyment for your sport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Breaking Through The Grind<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Practices and competitions can be a grind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Training can feel monotonous, tiring and painful but that is the very point where you need to lay the hammer down and push forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is at this point where the greatest gains can be achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your competitors are experiencing the same thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine the advantage you will have if you respond with that extra effort, focus and discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Strategies_For_Maintaining_High_Motivation\"><\/span>Strategies For Maintaining High Motivation:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Find your \u201cwhy\u201d \u2013 Reminisce about why you chose your sport in the first place. What did you imagine achieving when you began competing?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make it fun \u2013 Find ways to make practices a game. Have fun with it. This will combat those boring workouts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep a proper focus \u2013 You have a choice: You can focus on the boredom of a workout or the opportunities to improve and develop your game.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focus on your goals &#8211; Remind yourself of why you&#8217;re working so hard. Imagine exactly what you want to accomplish and the work required to get there.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enlist a training partner \u2013 You can work so much harder when challenged by a workout partner. A workout partner can help motivate you when you don\u2019t feel up to practice. Having a workout partner will keep you accountable for your level of effort and focus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Think of your greatest competitor \u2013 Try to outwork your greatest competitor. Ask yourself, \u201cAm I working as hard as him\/her?&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Utilize inspiring cues \u2013 Use inspirational phrases, pictures, role models, stories or photographs to keep you motivated. Collect them in a notebook and view those sources of inspiration during tough moments of the season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Try these tips to keep motivation high:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tip #1: Create if\/ then statements. If I (get bored in practice), I will&#8230; This way you can remedy situations when they occur.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tip #2: Think of what your athletic idol would do. How would your favorite athlete attack this situation?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Success is the result of doing things the right way even when you don\u2019t feel like doing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Successful athletes have learned how to stay calm, focused and perform with poise in competition.
