with competing when you are tired.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A multitude of other aspects that contribute to optimal performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_direction_is_your_mindset_leading_you\"><\/span>What direction is your mindset leading you?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you aren\u2019t moving closer to your <strong>goals,<\/strong> maybe it\u2019s time to take a closer look at your habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Villanova&#8217;s Men\u2019s basketball team is the defending NCAA national champion and every collegiate basketball team will seek to dethrone the Wildcats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wildcats know the road to repeating as national champions will not be easy physically or <strong>mentally<\/strong> so the team has committed to forge <strong>positive<\/strong> habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIf you don\u2019t bring it every night, if you don\u2019t make it your habit, somebody\u2019s going to get you,\u201d<\/em> is the motto Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright has been preaching to his team since pre-season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And because it will not be easy come tournament time, Coach Wright decided to challenge his team early with a tight schedule just like it will be during March Madness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Villanova played its first six games over a 15-day span, only two of those games were at the home and those home games were sandwiched around a trip to Purdue and three games in four days in the Charleston (S.C.) Classic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to perform well during the grind of the playoffs, then you should <strong>focus<\/strong> on developing that habit early in the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_your_mindset_that_will_take_over_when_you_are_weary_or_late_in_the_season\"><\/span>It&#8217;s your mindset that will take over when you are weary or late in the season.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>So if you do not pay attention to the <strong>mindsets<\/strong> about habits, consciously or unconsciously, then you may not achieve what you set out to accomplish early in the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though the Wildcats are off to a 6-0 start, Coach Wright believes his team still needs to be more prepared <strong>mentally<\/strong> to deal with defending their title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wright knows there are no off nights, therefore the Wildcats need to bring their A-game each and every night. This tough early schedule may be <strong>mentally<\/strong> taxing but it is developing the <strong>positive mental habits<\/strong> needed as the schedule gets tougher throughout the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WRIGHT:<\/strong> <em>\u201cI think [playing so many games early] paid off well for us. I think we were prepared, but on the other hand I don\u2019t know if we were <strong>mentally<\/strong> prepared for this many games back-to-back.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Are you mentally prepared for your season?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you <strong>focused<\/strong> on developing the <strong>mindset<\/strong> you need to <strong>succeed?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If not, what are you waiting for&#8230; Let\u2019s get going!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tips_for_developing_your_success_mindset\"><\/span>Tips for developing your success mindset:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First, what are the <strong>mindsets<\/strong> associated with <strong>successful<\/strong> athletes or teams including high intensity and energy, laser-sharp <strong>competitive focus,<\/strong> resilient in the face of <strong>adversity,<\/strong> strong work ethic and will to prepare, ability to close out games, etc?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Name 2-3 <strong>positive<\/strong> habits you need to develop. Create a plan on how you intend to work on these habits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What&#8217;s the plan to help you <strong>focus<\/strong> on these habits? How will you evaluate your progress?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember new <strong>mindsets<\/strong> don\u2019t form overnight.
