for example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>playing time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>judges\u2019 scores<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>weather<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>referee calls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>playing conditions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>trash talking from the other team<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>spectators<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>injuries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>teammates&#8230; the list goes on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Focusing_on_the_uncontrollables_impacts_you_in_a_number_of_ways\"><\/span>Focusing on the uncontrollables impacts you in a number of ways:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When you focus on the uncontrollables, you take your head out of the game.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you focus on the uncontrollables, you create negative emotions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you focus on the uncontrollables, you are no longer immersed in the present moment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you focus on the uncontrollables, your performance declines rapidly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Washington Redskins receiver, Terrelle Pryor, recently admitted that his play on the field has been affected because he was <strong>focusing<\/strong> on things outside of his control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pryor was a top free agent signed by Washington in the off-season, who was seen as a difference-maker and a player who could help the team get to the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pryor\u2019s production has dropped significantly this year and he was benched after one snap in the sixth game of the season against their divisional rivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the game, Pryor apologized for his <strong>inconsistency<\/strong> and lack of on-field <strong>focus<\/strong> all stemming from his <strong>focus<\/strong> on an uncontrollable, playing time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PRYOR:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;I&#8217;m used to the rock in my hand early and often. I have great teammates and understand it&#8217;s not realistic with the great talent we have. That&#8217;s something that&#8217;s tough and an ongoing battle in my own mind. And I&#8217;m ready to control that focus and get back to pinning my ears back and playing ferocious how I know how! I&#8217;m ready.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_exactly_can_you_control_in_sports\"><\/span>What exactly can you control in sports?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Preparation\"><\/span>Preparation:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Your preparation includes:<\/strong> your level of training, your diet, your attention to <strong>mental skills,<\/strong> your <strong>game plan<\/strong> or competitive strategy, your technique, your competition warm-up, your pre-game routine, etc. When you prepare meticulously, you feel more confident and in control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Effort\"><\/span>Effort:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Effort includes:<\/strong> your training <strong>intensity,<\/strong> your competition intensity and your attention to technique refinement. Hard work often separates the good from the great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Attitude\"><\/span>Attitude:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Attitude includes:<\/strong> your mindset towards competition, your perspective towards <strong>adversity,<\/strong> the content of your thoughts, your approach to training and an arduous season, your response to mistakes and your response to bad officiating. Your attitude is everything when it comes to competing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Focus\"><\/span>Focus:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your <strong>focus<\/strong> is what you choose to pay attention to. If you can <strong>focus<\/strong> on the <strong>positive<\/strong> and immerse yourself in the moment, you will give yourself a big advantage over your competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Focusing<\/strong> on the controllables will help you keep your head in the game, emotions in check and performing at your peak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Focus_on_What_You_Can_Control\"><\/span>How to Focus on What You Can Control:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Focusing<\/strong> on what you can control is so important but you must know the certain aspects in your sport that you can control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make a list of all the things you can control in your sport, such as effort, your role, and attitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be aware when you start to <strong>focus<\/strong> on what you can&#8217;t change or control in your sport.
