Watching other cyclists pass can cause you to question why you participate in triathlons in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then comes the run&#8230; pushing the pace when you are physically and <strong>mentally exhausted,<\/strong> wondering if you will actually even finish the race. Your body getting tense, legs feeling rubbery and dealing with the physical discomfort magnify the challenges to both your body and mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those are just the challenges you need to overcome during a race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Think of all the challenges when it comes to training:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Injuries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finding the time to train<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boredom<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Illnesses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pushing past discomfort<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The battle of not wanting to train at all<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_is_it_possible_to_stay_MOTIVATED_with_all_these_physical_and_mental_challenges\"><\/span>How is it possible to stay MOTIVATED with all these physical and mental challenges?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There are a number of different strategies triathletes utilize to sustain motivation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Goal Charts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Self-Rewards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Read motivational or inspiring stories about athletes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quote books<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visualizing Success<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training Partners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Goal Buddies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The important thing is that you find your <strong>motivation<\/strong> and find methods of motivation that are effective for <strong>YOU.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think of <strong>motivation<\/strong> as the gas that fuels your car&#8230; It doesn\u2019t magically appear. You need to fill your tank in order to get to where you want to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the journey is long and rough, you will need to fill the tank more often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without <strong>motivation,<\/strong> you will putter around and eventually stall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Australian Triathlete Grace Musgrove, who has battled some injuries during her career, has a meaningful strategy to sustain her <strong>motivation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MUSGROVE<\/strong><em>: &#8220;I always have short and long term goals written down. If I am ever struggling to get through a certain period of training or if things aren\u2019t going my way, I have those goals to remind me and keep me inspired.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Motivation<\/strong> is personal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"So_what_inspires_you_Why_do_you_compete_in_triathlons\"><\/span>So, what inspires you?
