question from our readers asked:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%80%9CHow_do_you_help_teammates_who_are_struggling_with_confidence%E2%80%9D\"><\/span><em>&#8220;How do you help teammates who are struggling with confidence?&#8221;<\/em><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Confidence<\/strong> can be low or fragile on the court for many reasons&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volleyball players lose <strong>confidence<\/strong> after making <strong>mistakes,<\/strong> or maybe they feel they aren\u2019t getting any results from all their training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or, volleyball players might struggle to believe in themselves if they get little playing time or others consistently give negative feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another reason volleyball players may have low or <strong>fragile confidence<\/strong> is that they fail to meet their high, <strong>strict expectations<\/strong> they have on court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had a tough coach one year in college, and much of our team struggled to believe in themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In serve receive, if you made two errors in a single rotation, you would get pushed back and we would receive with only two people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was a 6-rotation outside, so I was a player who was always in serve receive. I remember a teammate of mine, a DS, who would be so nervous when she came in because she continued to think about what would happen if she made two errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This player was a solid DS, great in serve receive in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though, she often had a tough time in games because she constantly <strong>worried<\/strong> about getting &#8220;pushed back.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since she had been pulled out of serve receive before in a game, the belief in her ability to perform in those situations dropped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You could literally see her hands shaking while waiting for the serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My teammate struggled in games with serve receive and <strong>confidence,<\/strong> and nothing anyone ever said could pick her back up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s because confidence must come from within <strong>YOU.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"As_a_player_self-confidence_is_YOUR_responsibility\"><\/span>As a player, self-confidence is <strong>YOUR<\/strong> responsibility.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While external factors can often influence a volleyball players\u2019 <strong>confidence,<\/strong> ultimately, it\u2019s up to you how <strong>confident<\/strong> your think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For teammates who struggle with their <strong>confidence,<\/strong> you can only continue to encourage and support them on the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teammates will continue to put forth effort because they at least think you believe in them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, inspire your teammates to develop their own level of unwavering <strong>confidence<\/strong> based on their <strong>strengths<\/strong> and special talents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\"
