The <strong>belief<\/strong> of &#8220;more is better&#8221; can consume some athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But is more really better?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Is_focusing_on_your_sport_100_percent_of_the_time_the_most_effective_path_to_athletic_success\"><\/span>Is focusing on your sport 100 percent of the time the most effective path to athletic success?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The reality is that the &#8220;Train, Eat, Sleep, Repeat&#8221; <strong>mindset<\/strong> often does more harm than good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Train, Eat, Sleep, Repeat&#8221; <strong>mentality<\/strong> puts a lot of <strong>pressure<\/strong> on athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Athletes that invest most of their time and energies on one pursuit heap excessive demands on themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;Train, Eat, Sleep, Repeat&#8221; <strong>mindset<\/strong> is an eggs-all-in-one-basket investment. Competitions become all-or-nothing, <strong>success<\/strong> or failure, and that\u2019s a risky proposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think of it in terms of investing money&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You would never dream of taking every penny and everything you own and investing it on one stock, so why would you do the same thing athletically?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_key_to_athletic_success_is_having_a_balance_in_your_life\"><\/span>The key to athletic success is having a balance in your life.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s a matter of being 100 percent <strong>focused<\/strong> during training and competitions but, also, having a personal life outside of sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having a personal life is a way of recharging your batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One athlete that knows how to maintain balance is WTA tennis player Naomi Osaka&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Osaka is ranked 20th in the world and genuinely enjoys her time on the court. Osaka has a clear goal of being one of the best in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OSAKA:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;I know that there are new [players] that are going to come and do good, and of course I want to be one of them. I feel like I&#8217;m already one of them.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Osaka also realizes the importance of down time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OSAKA:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;Tennis is my job, similar to how a normal person has a 9-to-5 job. When I&#8217;m off the court, everything relaxes, and I don&#8217;t really care that much about what I do or what I say.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is prudent advice from a top-ranked athlete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Balance actually will enhance your game but some athletes find it difficult to turn off their athletic role after leaving the athletic arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"It_is_not_easy_to_strike_a_balance_between_sport_and_life\"><\/span>It is not easy to strike a balance between sport and life.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of your personal decisions, such as sleep, diet, staying out late, affect your sports performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the time demands of competing in a sport, you have to schedule many social events around training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the conflicts, learning some effective balancing strategies will lessen the <strong>pressure<\/strong> to perform, keep your passion for competing alive, improve performance and help you develop fully as a person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tips_for_Balancing_Sport_Life\"><\/span>Tips for Balancing Sport &amp; Life<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Set the schedule<\/strong> \u2013 Map out athletic commitments and set aside time to <strong>relax,<\/strong> hang with friends, enjoy hobbies or pursue activities outside of sport.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Get a hobby<\/strong> \u2013 Find something that you love to do, such as music, reading, crafts, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leave sports at the arena<\/strong> &#8211;
