<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mental toughness<\/strong> is being a competitor in all situations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether it\u2019s playing with <strong>intensity<\/strong> when you come off the bench  with a few minutes left with zero chance of winning the contest&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or <strong>focusing<\/strong> on nailing your routine when the winner has already been decided&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or continuing to fight the last few games of the season when your team has already been eliminated from the playoffs&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or even pushing yourself to the limit during the last five minutes of practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mental<strong> <\/strong>toughness<strong> <\/strong>is when you do not tank or let up despite what some would deem a zero chance of success. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reality is that every time you compete, you <strong>succeed<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may not succeed in winning the contest but you succeed in building your <strong>mental<\/strong> <strong>toughness<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Every_time_you_compete_you_invest_in_your_mental_toughness\"><\/span>Every time you compete, you invest in your <strong>mental<\/strong> <strong>toughness<\/strong>. <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you see <strong>mental<\/strong> <strong>toughness<\/strong> in those terms, then there is always a benefit to competing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mental<\/strong> <strong>toughness<\/strong> is cumulative; it develops through training and through action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You always an opportunity to build your <strong>mental<\/strong> <strong>toughness<\/strong>, whether you are playing a pre-season game or championship game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you chose not to compete when your chances of winning are low, you are wasting an opportunity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a healthy reserve of <strong>mental<\/strong> <strong>toughness<\/strong>, you will have a tremendous edge in future competitions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Denver Broncos defensive end Shelby Harris talked about the importance of competing after the team\u2019s loss to the Cleveland Browns which virtually eliminated them from the playoffs this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>HARRIS: <\/strong><em>&#8220;There is no quit. Regardless of what  the record is. At the end of the day if you&#8217;re a competitor, if you&#8217;re a  true competitor, you want to win all the time, no matter what, and it  shouldn&#8217;t matter what the score is or what your record is. You should be  going out there regardless, trying to ball, that&#8217;s a competitor. That&#8217;s  what we need, we need competitors.&#8221;<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>You have the choice in competitions and you want to make the right choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you choose to back off because you believe the game to be  meaningless or the situation not to matter, you develop a habit of  giving in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you choose to compete, to give it your all in all situations, you develop the habit of <strong>mental<\/strong> <strong>toughness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s that <strong>mental<\/strong> <strong>toughness<\/strong> that you can call on when you face <strong>pressure<\/strong> in future situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the game is on the line, <strong>mental<\/strong> <strong>toughness<\/strong> will give you an edge over your opponents&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you make a mistake early in a competition, <strong>mental<\/strong> <strong>toughness<\/strong> will help you bounce back quickly&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you are trying to achieve a personal best, <strong>mental<\/strong> <strong>toughness<\/strong> will strengthen your chances of achieving your objective. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, what choice will you make? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Developing_Your_Mental_Toughness\"><\/span>Developing Your Mental Toughness: <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Look to improve your skills or learn in every situation.
