What is Mental Performance Coaching for Skydiving?

Skydiving mental performance coaching is one-on-one virtual training that helps competitive skydivers and sport jumpers overcome the mental barriers, such as anxiety before jumps, fear of errors in competitive formations, overthinking exit and body positions, and inconsistency between practice jumps and competition, that prevent them from performing to their potential. At Peak Performance Sports, certified mental performance coaches work with formation skydiving (FS), freefly, canopy piloting, accuracy, and all competitive skydiving disciplines using the Athlete’s Mental Edge Framework and the Athlete’s Mental Aptitude Assessment (AMAP) to build a personalized mental game plan. Programs are available for sport and competitive skydivers worldwide.

If you perform smoothly in practice jumps but stiffen up under competition scoring, your mental game is what needs work. Do any of these sound familiar?

→”I execute perfectly in dirt dives but tighten up when the scoring starts.”
→”I overthink my body position and exit instead of trusting my training.”
→”After an error or missed point I lose focus for the rest of the round.”
→”I get tense on the jump run and it affects my exit and first move.”
→”I can’t find the relaxed, automatic state in competition that I have in practice.”

Real Results from Competitive Athletes

“I was able to get into a flow with a pre-jump routine. My mental preparation was much better before the jump, which allowed me to focus better in our routine.”
~Amy Milhorne, Skydiver

How Our Skydiving Mental Coaching Works

Take the Athlete’s Mental Aptitude Assessment (AMAP) to identify mental game strengths and weaknesses specific to your discipline and competition format. Your practice vs. competition performance gap provides a baseline for measuring improvement.

Learn mental performance strategies, pre-jump routines from dirt dive through door, focus techniques for trusting training in the air, strategies for recovering focus after missed points, and composure tools for performing under competition pressure with the same automaticity as in practice.

Work through the Athlete’s Mental Edge audio and workbook program between sessions to reinforce mental skills and apply them directly to your next competition or training camp.

Apply customized pre-jump mental preparation, guided visualization for rounds and sequences, focus cues for trusting your training in the air, and reset strategies for maintaining consistency through a full competition day of rounds.

What You Get with Skydiving Mental Performance Coaching

  • Your practice jump performance and body awareness carry into every competition round
  • Trust your training, respond automatically instead of overthinking in the air
  • A pre-jump routine that produces the same relaxed, automatic state as practice jumps
