How Our Tennis Mental Coaching Works

Every virtual coaching program follows a 4-step mental coaching system based on 40+ years of Dr. Cohn’s work with junior, collegiate, and professional tennis players:

Take the Tennis Mental Aptitude Assessment (TMAP) to identify mental game strengths and weaknesses. Your match statistics, win/loss record, tiebreaker conversion, unforced errors, provide a baseline for measuring improvement.

Learn mental game strategies tailored to tennis, prematch mental preparation, service routines, between-point reset techniques, and confidence-building strategies for pressure moments and tiebreakers.

Work through the Tennis Confidence 2.0 audio and workbook program between sessions to reinforce mental skills and apply them directly to your next match or tournament.

Apply customized prematch mental preparation, guided imagery, service routines, and point-by-point refocusing strategies directly to competitive matches and tournament play.

FAQ About Mental Performance Coaching for Tennis

What does a mental performance coach do for tennis players?

A mental performance coach for tennis helps players identify and overcome the mental barriers that prevent them from performing their best in matches. This includes building match confidence, developing composure in tiebreakers and pressure moments, recovering quickly after unforced errors and double faults with a reset routine, learning to play freely instead of steering the ball, and managing anxiety from rankings, parents, and coaches. At Peak Performance Sports, we use the TMAP assessment and the Tennis Confidence 2.0 Framework to build a personalized mental game plan for every player.

Can tennis mental coaching be done virtually via Zoom?

Yes, virtual coaching via Zoom is how the majority of our tennis players work with us. Sessions follow the same structured format as in-person coaching: weekly one-on-one meetings, a personalized mental game plan, and mental skills exercises to apply between matches. Whether you’re a junior in Florida or a college player in California, you get the same expert coaching from anywhere. Most players start within a week.

How much does tennis mental performance coaching cost?

Self-guided digital training programs start from $79. Virtual coaching programs are $600-700 a month and include weekly one-on-one sessions with a certified mental performance coach, the TMAP assessment, a custom mental game plan, unlimited email support, and the Tennis Confidence 2.0 workbook. Contact us for full coaching pricing.

How quickly will I see results from tennis mental coaching?

Most players notice improved composure and emotional control within the first few sessions, particularly in between-point routines, handling errors, and managing tiebreaker pressure. Measurable improvement in match results and win/loss record typically develops over 4 to 8 weeks of coaching.

What age should a tennis player start mental performance coaching?

Most tennis players benefit starting around age 12, when tournament pressure, ranking anxiety, and the gap between practice and match performance become noticeable. We coach junior, high school, college, USTA league, and professional players. Parents are often involved in early sessions to reinforce mental skills at home.
